Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

Alias is built on a simple promise: you meet as a persona, not as your legal identity. This policy explains what Technofledge Pvt Ltd collects, how we use it, and the rights you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”). We never sell your data, and we never expose your real name, face or documents unless you choose to share them.

1. Who we are

Alias is operated by Technofledge Pvt Ltd (“we”, “us”, “Alias”), a company incorporated in India, launching in Bengaluru. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, we are the Data Fiduciary responsible for your personal data. You can reach our Grievance Officer using the details at the end of this policy.

2. What we collect

We practise data minimisation — we collect only what the service needs to work.

  • Phone number. Used to create and secure your account via a one-time password (OTP). This is our primary identifier for you.
  • Persona content. The details you choose to add — persona name, moods, prompts, vibe images, and the photos you keep in your private Vault. You control this, and it is not your legal identity unless you make it so.
  • Approximate location. An approximate area (not a precise GPS trail) so we can show distance and nearby people. You can mask your distance in Settings.
  • Usage & device data. Basic technical data such as device type, app version, and interaction logs, used to keep the service secure, reliable and free of abuse.
  • Verification result. When you choose to get verified, our partner Realr performs the ID, liveness and phone checks and returns a pass/fail result and proof reference only. Alias stores that result — we never receive or store your identity documents.
  • Messages & reports. The chats you send, and any blocks or reports you file, so we can operate messaging and keep the community safe.
  • Payment records. If you take out membership, our payment processor handles your card or UPI details; we retain records of the transaction, not your full card number.

3. How we use your data

  • To create, secure and operate your account and personas.
  • To show relevant people, moods and distances, and to run Vibes, chat and the Vault.
  • To verify eligibility (18+) and, where you opt in, verification status.
  • To moderate content, detect abuse, and respond to reports — including automated and human review of text and images.
  • To process membership payments and prevent fraud.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. What we never do

  • We never sell your personal data or rent it to advertisers.
  • We never expose your real name, face or documents. A reveal only ever happens when you decide to make one.
  • We never show message content in push notifications, and we never run third-party ad-tracking networks inside the app.

5. Who we share it with

We use a small set of trusted processors, bound by contract to protect your data and use it only on our instructions:

  • Realr — identity, liveness and phone verification. Returns a result to us; retains documents on their side under their own policy.
  • Razorpay — processes membership payments in India.
  • Cloud hosting & infrastructure providers — store and serve app data securely.
  • Image & text moderation providers — help detect prohibited or harmful content.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove your personas, Vibes, Vault photos and chats within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records — for example, transaction and tax records, and limited safety logs relating to reports or bans — as permitted or required by Indian law.

7. Your rights under the DPDP Act

As a Data Principal, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we process about you.
  • Seek correction, completion or updating of your data.
  • Request erasure of your data, subject to legal retention needs.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing already carried out).
  • Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
  • Register a grievance with our Grievance Officer, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.

You can exercise most of these rights directly from Settings, or by contacting our Grievance Officer below.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls, an optional app-lock PIN, and a private, per-person Vault — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we design Alias to hold as little sensitive data as possible in the first place.

9. Children

Alias is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed, and we report where required by law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and the law evolve. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

11. Contact & grievances
